A new day indeed!

Granted I've never watched a presidential pre-inauguration show before but I can't imagine that there's ever been one like this. Since we're 3 hours behind the rest of the county, we're watching the inauguration concert after the rest of you have already seen it. I must say though that this is one of the freakin' coolest things I've ever seen! And I can't help but think this means that as a country we're headed in such an exciting direction. How could we not be when Obama has drawn so many of my favorite artists and favorite songs to kick things off!! We've been watching for 1 1/2 hours now and I've teared up every 30 seconds and I'm singing every song... it's so awesome!

Kicking off the concert with James Taylor was just too cool. Especially considering my girl, Jennifer Nettles, was on stage with him. It was beautiful! I can't believe a couple of years ago we were going to see her in local bars in Atlanta and now she's singing for the PRESIDENT!

Follow that up with John Mellencamp singing Pink Houses and I'm almost in heaven! Mom and I used to dance around the living room to this song when they played videos on MTV. Then we got to hear American Pie and Sheryl Crowe sing Bob Marley. Did you ever think you'd see Jack Black addressing the president elect?! Seeing everyone in the crowd singing "this land is my land" and "America the Beautiful" is great.

Such a cool event... I'm so pumped about the years to come.

[Thanks, Dad, for telling us to watch this on HBO for FREE!]

I had no idea. And am soooo bummed that I missed this. The inauguration made up for it. I know good things are ahead when Aretha Franklin sings them in!

I was astounded that Mack would read or comment on our blog. Glad you cleared that up...
